Capel Community Disability Advocacy Network (CDAN) is actively working with the Shire of Capel to develop a community connection project to recruit young people with disability to provide friendship and companionship to seniors in a public setting. It is hoped that this project will improve the independence, self-esteem and sense of purpose of all involved while reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. Improving the mental health of people in the Shire is one of the primary objectives of this group which meets regularly in Capel.
